They are :

Simple Prepositions:- One word prepositions like on, of, at, in, by, with, for, to, from and Since etc are called simple prepositions

Double Prepositions: When two simple prepositions are united to form a Single preposition, it is called a double preposition. Eg:- into, upon, upto, within, without etc.

Compound Prepositions - When two words are united to form a preposition, it is called a compound preposition.

Example: be + fore = before

be + Side = beside

be + hind = behind

to+wards towards etc.

Phrase Prepositions:- When a group of words used along with One or two simple prepositions, it is called a phrase preposition.

Eg : In Spite of, on account of, instead of, in front of,on behalf of etc.,

:- When a participle [u+ing] is used as a preposition, it is called participle preposition

Eg- According, during, owing, considering, regarding etc.

The Simple prepositions are further divided into 3 types.

1. Prepositions of Time Prepositions of Travel

2 3. Prepositions of Place.

1. Prepositions of Time :

The following prepositions are used before time references.

At At is used with a definite point of time in mind.

Eg: He goes to the office at 8 o'clock. She will come at Diwali

In In is usually used to denote months, years, period and century

Eg I was born in December
